Tindley Genesis Elementary School: A music-focused elementary school

“Academic Excellence Through the Arts”

As a part of the Tindley Accelerated Schools, the new Tindley Genesis Academy is an open-enrollment elementary school for students K-3. Tindley Genesis provides students with an accelerated elementary curriculum as they continue on their paths to college. Students at Genesis will also engage in concentrated music instruction throughout the school day which includes classes in instrumental music, singing, piano, and general music. At Genesis, music is also infused into the general education classroom to make learning an engaging and exciting experience for our young scholars.

Over the past 10 years, the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School has exposed hundreds of Indianapolis students and families to a truly transformative educational experience. One thing we have learned through our rich history of excellence is that the earlier children begin our accelerated curriculum, the more successful they will become.  Music enhances this process as it increases student development, social skills, and academic success.

At ages as young as five years old, Tindley Genesis scholars will participate in a challenging and interactive curriculum in Literacy, Math, Science, Social Studies, Writing, in addition to Music and the Arts.  Our accelerated curriculum is based on the same models used at our middle schools and high school; and as a result, students graduate from an Early College program already having earned post-secondary credits. Our Genesis scholars will possess the confidence, skills, and resilience to achieve success in elementary, middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
