tindley13Tindley Genesis History

Tindley Genesis Academy is an outgrowth of the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School—The Tindley School—Indiana’s first ever accelerated school.  Tindley Genesis is Indiana’s first accelerated elementary with a focused concentration on music and the arts.

The Tindley School opened its doors in 2004 in a beautifully renovated former grocery store located in the Meadows, an urban neighborhood in the northeast side of Indianapolis. A charter school for students in grades 6-12, Tindley quickly garnered a reputation as one of Indianapolis’ most successful charter schools, earning the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award in 2010. True to its motto “College or Die,” the Tindley School has so far sent every single one of its graduates to a respected college or university.

In 2011, The Tindley Accelerated Schools opened its second school, an all-male middle school, Tindley Preparatory Academy. In 2013, Tindley’s all-female middle school, Collegiate, opened in conjunction with the first elementary for the network, Renaissance. In 2014, Tindley Summit, a new elementary opened up on the far east side of Indianapolis.

Tindley Genesis will open its doors to students in grades K-3 in the fall of 2015. Students will receive a rigorous elementary academic curriculum in conjunction with concentrated music instruction.
